Miomirka Mila Melank (born Mikanović, September 1960) is a Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina since December 2018, from Nasa stranka (Our Party). Member of the Commission on Gender Equality and the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Federal Parliament of BH.
After graduating from high school (Druga gimnazija) 1978, she studied at University of Sarajevo Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Department of Mathematics (1978-1980). She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1985, at the Department of Graphic Design. Following her studies, she has worked at the OSSA Market Communications Agency (Oslobodjenje Sarajevo) since 1987, after a brief experience in 1986 at the Design Institute at the founding. In 1990, she received a scholarship from the Mexican Government to study at the Instituto de Artes Plasticas, Xalapa – Veracruz. She has worked as a freelance graphic designer in Sarajevo, Kikinda, (owner of Furniture store and Pizzeria “Give Peace a Chance”), Belgrade and Prague (Obchodní firma). In addition to working in the field of graphic design, she was engaged in the media and in Sarajevo as Secretary General of ULUPUBIH, the Association of Fine Artists and Applied Artists of BiH, where she performed tasks in the fields of organization, project coordination, administration, public relations and graphic design.
She is a co-author of a number of ULUPUBIH projects, the most significant is the International Poster Action Project Sarajevo100 (with Cedomir Kostovic and Amra Zulfikarpasic) and the project Bosancica Writing (Pišem ti bosančicom, with Amra Zulfikarpasic) implemented under the Dialogue for the Future, sponsored by UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO.
Her activities include all areas of graphic design, technical and design editing of newspapers and magazines in the fields of news programs and culture, journalistic and editorial, as well as the duties of artistic director, project coordinator and organizational and managerial affairs. She has been professionally engaged in “Kikindske“, “Kikindske News”, “Ki-press”, “Rez Magazine” and the “Northern Bunker” (Severni bunker) Literary Magazine 1991-1999. She had a Advertising and design activity registered in Prague 1999-2001. Except as a graphic designer, she worked 2006-2008 for the Dnevnik Vojvodina Press publishing company and in 2000-2004 period as general manager of the JP Kikinda Information Center. She works with the Women's Support Center, and among her clients are the Terra Center for the Fine Arts, Kikinda Theater and Kikinda Municipality, Sarajevo Winter, ZOI 84, Energoinvest, Unis-tours, IGM “Toza Markovic”, Banini, SKC Novi Sad, ING Real Estate Prague, SF Design Prague, Nektar DOO, Tetrapak Belgrade, Executive Council of Vojvodina, Kikinda Teachers College, Historical Archive, Kikinda National Museum and Kikinda National Library, City of Sarajevo, City Gallery Collegium artisticum, Palmižana Meneghello, Baka Blanka Concept Galery, Bitef Theater, Margo Digital Print, Naša stranka, Mladinska knjiga, etc… Mila has done a complete visual identity and production of Naša stranka – Our Party's 2014, 2016 and 2018 political campaigns.
She has had numerous group exhibitions and eight solo exhibitions. She has been a jury member of several international projects, including Regpak and the Poster for Tomorow International Poster Engagement Contest. She has won a number of awards: The First Visual Identity Award of the Sarajevo Nomination for the European Capital of Culture 2014 project, ULUPUBIH the Collegium artisticum Award for promoting a Bosnian script with Amra Zulfikarpasic
She trained athletics at the Sarajevo Athletic Club (1974-77), was a member of the Exponto Poetry Club (1976-78), played and made fanzines in the cult Sarajevo band SCH (1984-88). Apart from native BHSM language, she speaks intermediate English and elementary Czech language.
Her son Kai David Melank, multimedia designer, is born 1994.
Mila Melank (Miomirka Mikanović, 1960) je akademska grafička dizajnerka. U Udruženju likovnih umjetnika primijenjenih umjetnosti i dizajnera BiH je bila zaposlena kao generalna sekretarka od oktobra 2011. do decembra 2019. Trenutno je zastupnica Naše stranke u Zastupničkom domu Federalnog parlamenta Bosne i Hercegovine.
Nakon završetka Druge gimnazije studirala je na Prirodno-matematskom fakultetu, a diplomirala je na Odsijeku Grafički dizajn Akademije likovnih umjetnosti u Sarajevu, u klasi Mladena Kolobarića.
Grafičkim dizajnom se bavi više od trideset godina. Imala je 9 samostalnih, a učestvovala je i na više desetina grupnih izložbi u zemlji i inostranstvu. Dobila je nekoliko nagrada za grafički dizajn, među kojima je i Collegium artisticum za realizaciju projekta “Pišem ti bosančicom”. Neko vrijeme se bavila novinarstvom i članica je NUNS-a. Koordinirala je nekoliko značajnih projekata ULUPUBIH-a.
